Family owned & operated

Colorado Glass Artist, White Elk, and his family have lived in a remote area in the heart of the Colorado Rocky Mountains for over twenty years. His exquisite blown glass art is created in a unique mountain studio he custom built adjacent to his home.

His inspiration for his blown glass is taken from his state of "awe" and amazement at the wonders of life. His art is a consequence of this veneration.

"Art is the study of communicating this state of veneration..."

White Elk's studies have taken many forms including 28 years in the healing arts and Yoga, and 21 years of Aiki Martial Arts. He as also spent 23 years studying colors and their psychological effects upon the human psyche. Mountain climbing, hiking, biking, marathon running, and a variety of other sports have added to his spiritual sense of well being and balance.

White Elk has been a dedicated glass artist since 1993.

"The ultimate good lies not in winning a thousand battles,
but in avoiding a single conflict."

I use a nice safe playpen.

Elijah - 2½

White Elk and his wife Jo were blessed by the birth of their son, Elijah Nokoi, in May of 1996. Elijah's birth inspired them to build a glass blowing studio adjacent to their mountain cabin so that they could both be at home working and raising their son.

White Elk's personal spiritual journey and his family are the passion,
heart and soul of his work.
~

"The first look into the eyes of the beloved child,  is like the spirit that moved upon the face of the waters, giving birth to heaven and earth..."

"My Dad "
  by Elijah Holmes - age 7

O.K., I know it's because I'm his Mom, but when Elijah said he was going to draw us a picture of his Dad, I expected stick figure people. This was what we got.

As told by Elijah:
"The head is the earth, the hair is the yellow shooting stars with the sun above. The neck and wrists are the ocean, the fingers are leaves, the arms are eagles, the body is the universe, the legs are tree trunks and the feet are bears. I didn't want to use anything man-made Mom, only nature..."

"On this 28th day in June of 2003,
my son took my breath away."

"You may say I'm a dreamer,
but I'm not the only one..."

Pictures that need no explanation...
Priceless!

Welcome to the Neighborhood
(All photos shot on our mountain, in our yard,
which borders the Roosevelt National Forest)

"Bless the four corners of this house
and be thy lintel blest;
And bless the hearth, and bless the board,
And bless each place of rest;
And bless the door that opens wide
To stranger, as to kin;
And bless each crystal windowpane
That lets the starlight in;
And bless the rooftree overhead;
And every sturdy wall.
The peace of man, the peace of One,

The peace of love on all..."

Blown Glass, Hand Blown Glass, Glass Artist,

This young bear woke up hungry from Spring hibernation
and broke into our neighbors cabin looking for something to eat.
We hunted him down with our cameras and I believe
he was relocated to another part of the Roosevelt National Forest.

Blown Glass, Hand Blown Glass, Glass Artist,

Not a great picture, but it really is a bear (pawing through some rocks).
This fellow dropped by one evening during a family barbecue.
He hightailed it up the mountain after being told (very politely)
that he needed to fix his own dinner.

One of our more formidable neighbors,
spotted meandering through OUR FRONT YARD!!!
(yes, that's a mountain lion!)

One of my favorite visitors

Blown Glass, Hand Blown Glass, Glass Artist,

So cute I had to post him twice!

Blown Glass, Hand Blown Glass, Glass Artist,

This little robin is either in love with herself, territorial about
this other robin who seems to be hanging around,
or else she just wants very badly to come in and visit.
She often sits right at the window looking in at us,
we've come to think of her as one of the family...

O.K., I know it's hard to see,
but still, we saw it, and what a thrill!

Is it any wonder why this artist is always inspired?
